COMPLAINTS  & INVESTIGATIONS 2011
Archives: 2010 - 2009 - 2008 - 2007 - 2006 & (in spanish): 2005
Someone constructed this base of rocks and dirt in Lake Catemaco, on the Malecon, next to Restaurant Gorel (the
restaurant that displays shells of protected turtles on their wall, and no one complains).

We want to know who is responsible for the construction; the reason for construction; and above all, who gave
permission for the construction.

It is necessary that municipal government put a stop to the continuous construction existent on the Catemaco Malecon.
We are getting to the point where we can neither see the lake or access the beach.
WHO, WHY, AND WITH WHOSE PERMISSION?

Restaurant "Palapa La Hueva Jarocha"
October31, 2011
DEMATAC has filed a complaint with PROFEPA against the proprietor of the restaurant “Palapa la Hueva Jarocha, located at  Av.
Juárez s/n between Dr. Argudin and Gorostiza, San Andrés Tuxtla, Veracruz. The proprietor is Sr. Carlos Alberto Chazaro Flores.

The restaurant has a tank approximately 4 by 9 feet containing approximately 30 turtles of different species and a small
crocodile. We ask that PROFEPA visit the establishment to determine if they have obtained the appropriate permits to keep these
animals in captivity; and their objective in keeping them.

We hope for a prompt reply from PROFEPA.
White Tailed Fawn Dies
November 8 , 2011

We received an anonymous phone call advising us of a
White Tailed Fawn being held in captivity in the
community of
Pozolapan, in the municipality of  Catemaco; at the home of the  Villegas Santiago family.

We immediately advised
PROFEPA in Catemaco.

PROFEPA inspectors visited the residence and later advised us that the family had in fact had the fawn, but
that it died as a result of wounds caused by dogs. The family  states that they attempted to treat the wounds,
but were unsuccessful and the fawn did not survive.
